Automating Deployment with Matt Wrock
Have you automated your deployment infrastructure? Carl and Richard talk to Matt Wrock about his tool chain for doing deployments. The raft of tools is long, but largely familiar: NuGet, Chocolatey, Boxstarter, Vagrant. Matt continues on with Atlas, Packer and Boxcutter to put together a completely automated process to build new VMs with services, tools and your software all pre-configured and ready to go. More good thinking about getting your configuration down as code!
Matt Wrock has over 15 years experience as a software developer, primarily in the Microsoft space, and most recently has been focusing on infrastructure automation and testing with powershell and ruby on multiple platforms. Matt works for CenturyLink Cloud focusing on data center automation. Prior to CenturyLink, Matt worked for Microsoft as a senior software engineer. Matt is an avid OSS contributor with contributions to Vagrant, Test Kitchen, Pester, the Ruby winrm gem, Chef, Chocolatey, the founder of boxstarter and resident blogger at HurryUpAndWait.io.
