.NET Rocks!

Migrating to Azure with Mike Wood

Episode #1017 Tuesday, August 5, 2014

Carl and Richard talk to Mike Wood about migrating your applications to Azure. The conversation starts out thinking through the fundamentals of working in the cloud - how architecture and deployment are different. This inevitably leads to the hardest debate: Is your organization okay with data in the cloud? After that, Mike gets into some of the more interesting angles on cloud development - actually using virtual machines for your development environment. Is it cloud or is it virtual? Is there a difference? And a great list of resources for getting started with Azure!

Mike Wood

Mike Wood is a Technical Evangelist for Red Gate Software on the Cerebrata Team. He describes himself as a problem-solving, outdoorsy, user-group-founding, dog-loving, blog-writing, solution- creating, event-planning, married, technology-speaking, father-of-one kind of guy. When he's not living up to that title, he's an avid reader, (horrible) violinist and gamer. Michael is one of the Founding Directors of the Cincinnati .NET User Group as well as the editor for JustAzure.com, an educational resource for Microsoft Azure. He is also a Microsoft MVP in Windows Azure. You can catch up with Mike on his blog at http://mvwood.com/blog and on twitter under the handle @mikewo.
