Carl and Richard talk to Jay Schmelzer and Chris Finlan about LightSwitch. Jay is one of the leaders of LightSwitch at Microsoft and talks about some of the new features coming in LightSwitch including HTML 5 clients. Chris works for SAP and builds line-of-business applications there, including building in LightSwitch.

Jay Schmelzer is a Director of Program Management on the Visual Studio Team at Microsoft. Jay and his team are responsible for the Visual Studio design-time tools and runtime components used to build applications that leverage Microsoft Office client and server products, many of the Visual Studio features vital to end-to-end application development experience including Data Design-time, building and consuming WCF services and Deployment, as well as the application programmability and extensibility available in Visual Studio Tools for Applications. Prior to joining Microsoft, Jay was a partner with a leading consulting firm and specialized in the design and development of enterprise applications. Jay has authored several articles and books on application development and is a frequent speaker at conferences.

Christopher Finlan is a Senior Business Intelligence Specialist in the Global Software, Technology & OEM Partners Group at SAP and is considered a “go-to” resource when it comes to designing and implementing innovative, customized line of business and reporting applications that far exceed end user expectations. He has over 13 years of industry experience with a strong background in both the SAP and Microsoft technology space. When he’s not tinkering with a new Lightswitch application or walking users through how to use SAP’s Business Objects BI tools inside of Sharepoint, you can usually find him outside Philadelphia with his wife Bridget and two children, Caitlin and Matthew.
