Arun Kishan on The Windows Kernel
Carl and Richard talk to Arun Kishan about all things Windows. The OS kernel is a mystery to most. This is a laid back discussion about Windows from a developers point of view.
Arun Kishan joined Microsoft in 2002 after completing his undergraduate and Masters degrees in Computer Science at Stanford University. He has been in the Windows kernel team ever since. He has contributed to the development of several Windows releases, including XP SP2, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008, and now, Windows 7. During his time in the kernel team he has been the primary owner for several core technology areas in the operating system, including the thread scheduler, core synchronization facilities, the threads & processes subsystem, the DLL loader, and others. He has currently taken on a role as a software architect, and is hard at work on projects that will span the core kernel, virtualization, and componentization teams.
