.NET Rocks!

The Whidbey Show

Episode #85 Monday, October 18, 2004

We try to have representatives from Microsoft on the show every once in a while to talk about what's happening in Redmond. This week we had four program managers for the Evangelism team: Scott Burmester, Steve Cellini, Carter Maslan, and Jeff Sandquist. The topic? Whidbey! We get a check up on the progress of the next version of .NET. We talked at length about the up-and-coming Visual Studio 2005 Team System, and the efforts to reach application developers who don't necessarily spend time in the development community. We also ask each of them to tell us something about Whidbey that we probably don't already know. All in all it's a good show, even if Rory and Richard are on vacation.

Guests:

Scott Burmester

For the last three years, Scott has built structured evangelism programs which lower the barriers of development for ISVs and Enterprise Developers; first in the area of Office as a Smart Client and currently Visual Studio 2005. These programs have grown in scope and complexity and have become one of the core deliverables from our Platform Strategy and Partner Group.

Steve Cellini

He has held several positions over his 6 year career at Microsoft, including Group Program Manager and Group Manager in various Microsoft products and services teams. This is the only known photo of Steve in existence.

Carter Maslan

Based out of Microsoft's Silicon Valley Campus in Mountain View, he is responsible for developing strategic partnerships around Microsoft's development platform with a focus on Whidbey and Longhorn-wave technologies.

Prior to Microsoft, Carter was Director of Product Management and Marketing at Inktomi, which he joined via its acquisition of startup Impulse Buy Network.

Carter received his B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University, where he also met his wife. They live in the bay area with their two children.
